US President Donald Trump has said that Volodymyr Zelenskyy hasn’t read a US-drafted peace proposal aimed at ending the war between Ukraine and Russia.
“His [Zelenskyy’s] people love it. But he hasn’t read it,” Trump told reporters in Washington.
Trump’s remarks come a day after Zelenskyy described a call with US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner discussing the plan as a “constructive, although not easy” conversation.
The commentary from both leaders follows several days of talks between senior Ukrainian negotiator Rustem Umerov, Witkoff and Kushner, which finished on Saturday.
Zelenskyy is due to meet with European leaders in London this week.
