EU agrees to €90 billion Ukraine loan after scrapping plan to seize frozen Russian assets

After 15 hours of talks in Brussels, the European Union leaders have reached a deal on delivering a €90 billion loan to Ukraine.

The meeting ended with leaders giving up on plans to use frozen Russian assets to bankroll Kyiv’s recovery.

The funds will be raised through joint borrowing between 24 of the EU’s 27 countries but needed all of them to agree.
