Canadian PM warns of weaponisation of global trade

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said that his country stands firmly with Denmark and Greenland amid growing tensions with the United States.
Carney warned that the state of the world is “in the midst of a rupture, not a transition”.

“Great powers have begun using economic integration as weapons. Tariffs as leverage, financial infrastructure as coercion, supply chains as vulnerabilities to be exploited,” he said.

President Donald Trump has suggested he may punish countries with tariffs if they don’t back the US controlling Greenland, a message that came as a bipartisan Congressional delegation sought to lower tensions in the Danish capital.
