Inland regions of Queensland, NSW, South Australia and Victoria are continuing to swelter, as a record-breaking heatwave delivers scorching temperatures – some nearing 50C.
The heat has caused major fires in Victoria’s south-west to flare up.
Firefighters also battled blazes in other parts of the state, including the Tallangatta Valley in the state’s north-east.
