Ajit Pawar, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, was killed on Wednesday after the Learjet 45 he was travelling in crashed while attempting to land at Baramati airport around 8:40 am. The aircraft burst into flames on impact, leaving no survivors. Pawar, his personal security officer, an attendant and two crew members were on board. Preliminary reports suggest technical difficulties during the final approach, with flight data indicating a second landing attempt. Authorities have launched an investigation. The Maharashtra government has announced three days of state mourning as condolences pour in from across the country.
