Presenting the Union Budget 2026–27 on Sunday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman positioned India’s creative industries as a key driver of employment and services-led growth, announcing fresh support for the country’s “Orange Economy.” Highlighting the rapid expansion of the animation, visual effects, gaming and comics (AVCG) sector, Sitharaman said the industry is projected to require nearly two million professionals by 2030. To build future-ready talent, she proposed supporting the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies, Mumbai, in establishing AVCG content creator labs across 15,000 secondary schools and 500 colleges nationwide. The move aims to strengthen skills, boost innovation and expand job opportunities in India’s fast-growing creative ecosystem.
