Over the years, viewers have witnessed an endless amount of yelling, tears, heartbreak and overwhelming moments, and the 2026 season is showing no signs of deviating from that format.

The experiment sees couples put through emotional trials – like ranking other brides and grooms’ attractiveness in front of their new partner – as well as explosive dinner parties where personalities tend to clash.

Director of programming at Channel 9 and 9Now, Geoff Dyer, defended the show and hit back against claims that all the drama is carefully “manufactured” by producers.

Speaking to TVTonight, he said, “It’s heavily produced, but we’re not trying to manufacture conflict and issues in the show. The natural format beats of the show, putting two people together and marrying them at first sight, just naturally creates content and ups and downs.”

While it will undoubtedly create good television, some viewers have complained that the show needlessly pushes people to their limits and doesn’t allow enough space to let the relationships actually develop.

What do you think?
