US President Donald Trump says a change in power in Iran “would be the best thing that could happen”, as his administration weighs potential military action against Tehran.
Trump confirmed a second aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford, is being deployed to the Middle East, joining the USS Abraham Lincoln.
He says the build-up is needed “in case we don’t make a deal”, as indirect nuclear talks with Iran remain uncertain.
Regional allies warn any strike could ignite a broader Middle East conflict, as nuclear negotiations stall and internal unrest intensifies pressure on Tehran’s leadership.
