Should we be ‘fibremaxxing’?
Social media is full of people ‘fibremaxxing’, basically increasing the amount of fibre they eat.
According to the latest National Diet survey, 96 per cent of the UK population are not getting enough fibre. Most countries recommend 25 to 35g of fibre a day, but most people don’t get more than 20g.
Why is fibre so good for you? A high fibre diet has consistently been shown to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, strokes, type 2 diabetes and colon cancer.
