Senator Bernie Sanders claims that Donald Trump’s Iran war is destroying fundamental postwar norms, undermining the United Nations, and pushing the region toward greater instability and chaos. He warns that U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on Iran are undermining international law and bringing the world back to a time when might makes right. The Vermont independent, the longest-serving independent in U.S. congressional history and currently the ranking member of the Senate HELP Committee, urges an immediate shift away from regime-change conflict toward diplomacy and a renewed commitment to the rule of law in order to prevent a wider regional explosion in a recent interview with Iranian experts.
