Winds and heavy rain hit Coen in far north Queensland as Cyclone Narelle makes landfall

The Cook Shire council in far north Queensland is reporting floods have closed five roads and hundreds of customers are without power. The council estimates power outages have left 73 customers without electricity in Coen plus 105 more farther south. A Coen business owner, Sara Watkins, says the community is waiting for the council to supply food and drinking water when it is safe to do so.
