CommSec’s James Gruber has commented on the “surge” in oil prices and “mixed” results from other commodities.
“Oil prices surged. They were up more than three per cent to $US112 a barrel,” Mr Gruber told Sky News Australia.
“Other commodities were mixed. Gold and copper were lower. Iron ore lifted marginally as China reimposed restrictions on one of BHP’s key products.
“Meanwhile, the Aussie dollar slumped as investors headed to the US dollar as a potential currency safe haven.”
