AI boom drives Australia data centre power surge

As the use of artificial intelligence surges around the world, the number of data centres required to power the technology, is also growing rapidly, including in Australia.

Currently, data centres in the country consume about two per cent of grid-supplied electricity, but that share is expected to triple by 2030.

Now the Federal government is laying out a plan aiming to ensure sustainability, as investment in data centres grows.
