Donald Trump threatens to ‘obliterate’ Iran as another deadline approaches

US President Donald Trump has said the entire country of Iran can be “taken out in one night” if a deal is not reached by his latest deadline — Wednesday, 8 April 10am Australian Eastern Standard time.

His comments came after Iran rejected a ceasefire proposal, saying it wants a permanent end to the war, not just a temporary pause.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei has said peace negotiations should in no way involve ultimatums and threats to commit war crimes.
