U.S. President Donald Trump has arrived in Beijing for a crucial summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, as tensions between the world’s two biggest powers continue to grow over trade, Taiwan, artificial intelligence and the war in West Asia.
The two-day meeting is expected to focus on the Iran conflict, the Strait of Hormuz crisis, tariffs, semiconductor restrictions, rare earth exports and Washington’s support for Taiwan. Trump has also signalled that he wants China to ‘open up’ further to American companies.
Top U.S. business leaders including NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Tesla chief Elon Musk, Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg and Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon accompanied Trump to Beijing.
