India Rejects Russian LNG Import Rumours Ahead of Jaishankar-Lavrov Meet | LIVE

India has pushed back against viral war-time misinformation linked to its energy supplies, as Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri dismissed claims that India refused Russian LNG imports, noting that India has never imported LNG from Russia in the first place. The clarification comes as India sharply increases crude oil purchases from Moscow amid the ongoing West Asia conflict and rising global energy prices. According to a CREA report, India’s imports of Russian hydrocarbons reached nearly $6.78 billion in March, with crude oil alone accounting for over $6.2 billion. The issue is expected to feature prominently during talks between External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in New Delhi, where both sides will discuss trade, energy security, and broader strategic cooperation.
