Captagon, a powerful psychotropic stimulant widely abused in West Asia, was intercepted in India for the first time. Authorities arrested a Syrian national linked to the syndicate and uncovered a major network using India as a transit corridor for drug shipments destined for Gulf countries. Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed the operation and reiterated the Modi government’s ‘zero tolerance’ policy against narcotics.
