‘Nonsense’: Angus Taylor dismisses prospect of future One Nation coalition

Opposition Leader Angus Taylor has dismissed the prospect of a Coalition with One Nation to form government as “nonsense”.

One Nation won its first Lower House seat in the Farrer by-election earlier in May and holds a second seat after Barnaby Joyce defected from The Nationals.

While that means the party only holds 2 of 150 seats in the lower house, there is rising concern within the Liberal and National parties about whether One Nation could win more seats at the next election.

Taylor told SBS Chief Political Correspondent Anna Henderson he has huge respect for voters who have lost trust in the Liberal Party and wants to win them back, adding his party is “going to be honest with Australians about where the situation is”.
