Iran’s senior Iranian military commander, Gen. Ahmad Vahidi, has resurfaced after 120 days as Tehran prepares for the state funeral of late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Images released by Iranian state media showed Vahidi attending a funeral planning meeting and later paying his respects beside Khamenei’s casket. Experts say Vahidi has emerged as a key figure shaping Iran’s hard-line position in negotiations over a possible long-term end to the conflict with the United States and is believed to be among a small group advising Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.
