Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected the Gaza peace plan endorsed by US President Donald Trump.
The rejection of America’s proposal coincides with an upcoming election in Israel, which shows the plan is widely unpopular among his right-wing base, according to polls.
“Israel rejects 15-point plan. The IDF will not carry out any withdrawal until the dismantling of Hamas and its weapons, and when I say dismantling Hamas and its weapons, that means heavy weaponry, less heavy weaponry, and smaller arms – all weaponry,” Mr Netanyahu said.
“We’re talking about a true dismantling, not a fictitious dismantling. We’re now speaking with the Americans about this subject.”
