A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia on Monday, sending strong tremors across several parts of the country, according to a CNN report citing the US Geological Survey (USGS).
The quake was centred near San Jose del Palmar in the Choco department, about 280 kilometres west of the capital, Bogota, the USGS said. It struck at a depth of 107 kilometres at around 7:34 a.m. local time.
Authorities in Choco reported injuries and significant damage to buildings following the earthquake.
