The F 35 gives its pilot a remarkable view of the world outside, even through parts of the aircraft that would normally block vision. Six infrared cameras positioned around the jet continuously feed imagery into its central computer, creating a seamless view around the aircraft. This live imagery is projected directly onto the pilot’s advanced helmet display, allowing them to look down and see the terrain beneath the jet as though the cockpit floor were transparent. The system also improves night vision, targeting and situational awareness while reducing traditional fighter jet blind spots.
