Mushroom cook Erin Patterson appeals murder conviction | Meta on trial over addictive social media

Mushroom cook Erin Patterson has faced Victoria’s highest court in a bid to get her triple murder conviction overturned.

The 51-year-old’s legal team has raised several grounds for appeal.
Chief among them…what it described as the catastrophic decision to sequester the jury in the same hotel as the lead detective and key prosecutors.

Meta – the company behind Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram – is on trial over claims it deliberately designed its platforms to be addictive to young people.

Led by four US states which are seeking billions of dollars in compensation, it’s being seen as the biggest legal test yet of social media’s effects on young people.
