AFL boss Andrew Dillon has fronted the media for the first time since the Sydney Swans AFL club became embroiled in sexual assault and sexual conduct without consent allegations last week.
Five players have been stood down for the rest of the season for breaching club standards. No charges have been laid against any of the players.
The league’s CEO today confirmed the sanctioned players are not welcome at the Brownlow Medal ceremony, which recognises the “fairest and best” player of the season, next month.
“The invitations for the Brownlow will be going out this week, those players won’t be invited,” Dillon said.
He’s also denied the sport has a broader cultural problem.
