Former Victorian Liberal Colleen Harkin says Australian history has declined dramatically as a standalone subject in schools.
“It has almost disappeared completely,” Ms Harkin told News24 host Jaimee Rogers.
“As a standalone subject, Australian history is only taught in Victoria now.
“It used to be about 42 per cent of students; it’s now down to one per cent, so in 2025 only 440 students studied Australian history.”
