The Trump administration could be facing another major leadership shake-up at the Pentagon, with reports suggesting that the White House has reviewed potential replacements for Deputy Secretary of War Steve Feinberg.
According to reports, White House officials have spoken with senior lawmakers in the US Senate about whether potential candidates to replace Feinberg would have enough support to secure confirmation. However, no decision has been made to remove Feinberg from his position, and the Pentagon has denied that any replacement process is currently underway.
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has reportedly said that Feinberg has his full support and is not going anywhere. At the same time, Feinberg has faced pressure over efforts to increase US munitions production amid concerns about military weapon stockpiles.
A departure by Feinberg, the billionaire co-founder of private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management, would represent one of the most significant leadership changes at the Pentagon under Hegseth.
