The Kremlin has welcomed Donald Trump’s call for Ukraine to halt strikes on Russian diesel and civilian economic infrastructure, as Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov accused Kyiv of attacking civilian infrastructure. Peskov also claimed Russian forces are advancing along the front lines and said Moscow expects that trend to continue. He warned that worsening instability in the Gulf is contributing to major disruption in global oil supplies, while defending Russia’s restrictions on petroleum product exports. Peskov also addressed Cuba’s BRICS ambitions, a reported drone incident near the Polish-Ukrainian border, Finland’s nuclear deterrence plans and potential roles for China and India in efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict.
