Dozens of Dolly impersonators took to the runway in extravagant costumes, including Jerome, who recalled how ‘old girls from bingo’ asked him to join in: ‘I said, sure, and they said, “We’re dressing you up.”‘ The festival drew a record 1,600 attendees, nearly half the town’s population, among them Arcadia, who travelled from Brisbane and said she had gained a greater appreciation for the singer’s ‘amazing career’ and how generous she was.
