Former independent MP and the predecessor of Helen Haines, Cathy McGowan, has opened up about the “enormous relief” she’s felt after finding out her close friend is alive.
Haines has had both legs amputated and remains in a critical condition at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne.
Now three days since the incident, her electorate office remains closed, but heartfelt tributes continue to steadily accumulate outside its door.
