Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claims it has shot down a US-made MQ-1 drone over the eastern Strait of Hormuz, opposite the coastal city of Sirik. The IRGC described the incident as the 14th MQ-1 drone it has downed, saying its air defence system intercepted the aircraft. The claim comes amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States around the strategically important waterway. The reported shootdown raises fresh questions about military activity and security in the Gulf, although the claim has not been independently verified.
