Stirring change: Roya’s journey from refugee to head chef

Roya Moeen fled the Taliban, leaving her home in Afghanistan to seek safety in Australia in 2014.

She’s now the head chef at Sydney-based Kabul Social, a café that donates food and also provides skills and training, as well as employment pathways, to migrants and refugees.

The social enterprise behind the restaurant has received a government grant to continue its mission of tackling unemployment and discrimination through food and opportunity.
