Outrage erupted after revelations MPs receive monthly housing allowances 20 times the minimum wage, sparking anger amid economic hardship.

The death of 21-year-old driver Affan Kurniawan, run over by a police vehicle, has fuelled fury after footage went viral.

Rights groups accused police of brutality, while President Prabowo ordered an investigation, with seven officers arrested as unrest spreads nationwide and markets slide.
