David Pocock says the AFL should do more after player comes out

Independent senator and former Wallaby captain David Pocock has said sport is at its best when people can turn up and be themselves.

The comments come after former West Coast Eagles player Mitch Brown became the first AFL star to publicly come out as bisexual.

Pocock called on AFL clubs to do more in support of LGBTIQ+ communities after 15 of the league’s 18 teams made public statements in support of Brown.
