What Nepal’s ‘gen Z’ protesters have to say and what’s next?

Nepal is facing its worst unrest in decades after tens of thousands of anti-government protesters, driven by a deep frustration with growing corruption and nepotism, took to the streets in an unprecedented manner.

The ‘gen Z’ protests, first sparked by a now-overturned social media ban, have left over 30 people dead and many injured, the country’s parliament in shatters and ousted Nepal’s long-serving Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Now, as the smoke settles in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu, the country’s military chief has invited young people to engage in talks, with some youth leaders recommending former chief justice Sushila Karki take interim control.
