Australia plans to integrate its military with Papua New Guinea’s defence forces under a new security agreement.
The treaty allows mutual recruitment of soldiers between Australia and PNG and provides a path for Papua New Guineans to gain Australian citizenship through service in the ADF.
PNG’s Defence Minister Billy Joseph said the deal was a “mutual defence treaty” that would see the countries work together to defend each other’s territories.
