A 33-year-old senior constable has been charged with assault following an incident at a pro-Palestinian protest in Belmore in June, where former Greens candidate Hannah Thomas suffered an eye injury requiring multiple surgeries. Thomas was awarded more than $20,000 in legal costs after charges against her were dropped and has launched her own legal action against police. The accused officer remains on duty while his employment status is under review during an ongoing critical incident investigation.
