Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Young has been forced to withdraw comments she made during a heated exchange in Senate estimates with the environment minister, Murray Watt, and officials from the environment department. Hanson-Young accused the department of not using all of its powers to hold mining companies to account when they have allegedly bulldozed habitat of endangered species.
