LIVE | Delhi Chokes After Diwali, AQI In “Very Poor” Category | Firstpost Live | N18G

Delhi woke up to hazardous air quality following Diwali, as the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) plunged to dangerously high levels. According to IQAir, Delhi ranked as the world’s most polluted major city on October 21, with most areas recording AQI above 300 and some breaching 500. Despite the limited use of eco-friendly firecrackers permitted by the Supreme Court, emissions from traditional crackers, stubble burning in neighbouring states, and vehicle pollution contributed to the smog. Authorities have implemented Stage Two of the Graded Response Action Plan, restricting vehicles, construction, and industrial activity. Other Indian cities, including Mumbai, Patna, and Jaipur, also faced post-Diwali pollution challenges.
