Nearly one million hectares returned to Traditional Owners in Queensland’s Cape York in Australia

Native title for about 915,000 hectares of land in Cape York has been returned to Traditional Owners after 255 years.

The Federal Court of Australia sat in far north Queensland to officially hand down the native title determinations.

The Cape York Land Council expects additional groups to receive native title in the coming year.
