10 found guilty of cyberbullying Brigitte Macron

Ten people have been found guilty by a French court of cyberbullying Brigitte Macron, the wife of French President Emmanuel Macron.

Those convicted were accused of posting “numerous malicious comments” that falsely claimed she was assigned male at birth and linked the 24-year age gap between her and her husband to paedophilia.

The claims have been shared widely among far-right and conspiracy circles, particularly in France and the United States. The Macrons have filed a defamation suit against US far-right podcaster Candace Owens, who has repeated the claim that Brigitte Macron was born male.
