The Iran war is widening across the Middle East, with Saudi Arabia saying its coalition intercepted and destroyed three Houthi ballistic missiles targeting Khamis Mushait, while Riyadh considers a new offensive against Iran-backed Houthi forces in Yemen. At the same time, a tanker was struck by an unidentified projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, causing a fire and temporary power loss, although the crew was reported safe. Iraq has also resumed Iranian airline flights to Najaf under a temporary US sanctions exemption, with Mahan Air excluded. The developments come as the Flydubai incident raises further questions over possible Iranian links, putting shipping, aviation, energy routes and regional security at the centre of the wider Iran conflict.
