Imran Khan’s sister Uzma Khan has filed a contempt petition in Pakistan’s Supreme Court, accusing the government and senior officials of violating an August 18 order directing his transfer to a private hospital. Khan was instead taken to a state-run hospital for examination before being returned to prison.
Imran Khan’s sister Uzma Khanum and personal physician Dr Faisal Sultan have described a confusing night surrounding the jailed former Pakistani prime minister’s attempted hospital transfer. Khan was ordered by Pakistan’s Supreme Court to be moved to Shifa International Hospital for medical care, but instead spent a few hours at PIMS before returning to Adiala jail. Khanum said she met her brother after 10 months and raised concerns about his medical examination and isolation. Sultan said he waited at Shifa for hours but never saw Khan. Pakistan’s government said Khan was examined by qualified doctors and declared medically fit.
