Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to hold a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in New Delhi on September 11, ahead of the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirms the meeting and describes India as Russia’s ‘strategic partner’, calling the relationship ‘extremely important’.
Peskov also highlights the growing use of national currencies in Russia-India trade, saying the majority of payment exchanges are being conducted in national currencies. The Kremlin says Modi and Putin remain in close contact, with cooperation expanding across security, space, energy, transportation, science and technology.
