India-China border tensions continue to simmer in Arunachal Pradesh, with ITBP Director General Shatrujeet Kapur confirming face-offs at multiple locations. Government sources say Chinese troops have pitched tents near Maja in Upper Subansiri district, within India’s perception of the Line of Actual Control. India has increased its deployment as both sides continue border talks. Kapur says specialised Shaurya commandos are playing a role in the confrontations and stresses the need to modernise India’s border defences. The ITBP is investing in drones and anti-drone systems, while plans are underway to build underground shelters along the China border over the next three years. Hem Kaur Saroya tells you more.
