According to Condé Nast Traveller’s Readers’ Choice Awards, which received close to 300,000 responses from people who shared their travel experiences from around the globe, the Victorian capital was found to have the nicest residents.
The CEO of Visit Victoria Brendan McClements told Yahoo Lifestyle that “The accolade as the world’s friendliest city is a testament to the wonderful people and tourism operators that proudly welcome visitors to Melbourne.”
Melbourne jumped five spots since the 2025 rankings, garnering a total score of 96 thanks to its “cooler climates and distinct artsy vibe”.
The only other Australian city to rank in the top 10 this year was Perth, which came in at sixth.
