The film, set to hit cinemas in December, is based on Freida McFadden’s best-selling novel that follows Millie (Sweeney), a live-in housemaid, and Nina (Seyfried), the wealthy woman she works for. But of course, not everything is as it seems.
Speaking at CinemaCon earlier this year, Seyfried revealed just how much the role pushed her.
She said, “I’ll never forget the way playing Nina made me feel. I went to places I never thought I’d go to. The surprises in my own experience in playing this character were life-affirming and career-affirming… We played some wacky sh*t. And weren’t expecting to.”
Sweeney revealed she’s a big fan of the Housemaid trilogy, and said, “There’s so [many] unexpected twists and turns and the characters are flawed and you love them at the same time. [Millie is] complex, strong, and with a little something up her sleeve.”
Director Paul Feig promises audiences are in for a ride, calling the film “shocking, delicious and fun” – the kind of film that will “keep audiences on the edge of their seats”.
