Hundreds of protesters have faced off against ICE agents after US Border Patrol personnel shot an armed woman in Chicago’s Brighton Park neighbourhood on Saturday.
The Department of Homeland Security said in a statement that no law enforcement officers were seriously injured. A group of protesters, including the woman who was shot, rammed cars into vehicles used by the ICE agency.
It’s understood the woman, a US citizen who was not identified, drove herself to the hospital.
The protests come as White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said, “President Trump has authorised 300 national guardsmen to protect federal officers and assets.”
