Albanese government ‘full steam ahead’ with energy transition despite rise in power prices

Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell claims the Albanese government is “full steam ahead” with the energy transition despite the increase in inflation, mostly fuelled by a rise in power prices.

“The view of the Treasurer Jim Chalmers is that it is unsustainable to just keep rolling out government rebates on electricity bills,” he said.

“He, like most in government, believe that the energy transition, while painful, must be pressed ahead with and believes it is ailing coal-fired power stations that are pushing up prices.

“The big revolution that the government sees is consumers investing in household batteries, helped by government subsidy, personally defeating their electricity bills.”
