Opposition ‘renders themselves irrelevant’ to the net zero debate: Sam Rae

Aged Care Minister Sam Rae has hit out at the Opposition, claiming they’ve “rendered themselves irrelevant” to the net zero debate.

This comes as Nationals MPs are expected to abandon net zero at a party room meeting on Sunday, after the Nationals’ Federal Council scrapped the policy.

“Australians expect governments to be able to walk and chew gum. We’ve got to be able to address the issues of climate change at the same time as driving down power prices for households and business,” Mr Rae told Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.

“Renewable energy is the cheapest form of new energy.

“Let’s be really clear, these guys don’t have a plan for the future.”
