Iran’s former supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei — the last of the country’s revolutionary leaders — has been laid to rest.
A week of public funerals has culminated in a private burial in the holy city of Mashhad.
The slain leader was only one of dozens of senior figures killed by US or Israeli strikes on or after 28 February.
Analysts say, for now, hardliners in the regime are likely to prevail over pragmatists who see peace with the US as essential to Iran’s future.
